During the theory phases at Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts, you will gain in-depth knowledge in mathematics, physics, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering, as well as programming, databases and software development. During your practical phases at the company, you will put what you have learned directly into practice: You will work on projects in automation engineering, mechanical and plant engineering, or in the field of production engineering. You will develop your own software solutions and application software, model processes and analyse technical workflows using modern simulation tools. You will also learn how information and control systems are networked with each other to create efficient and sustainable production processes.

The dual study programme in Engineering Informatics & Mechanical Engineering always starts in odd-numbered years on 1 September and lasts three and a half years. It combines in-depth theory phases at Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts with intensive practical phases at Maurer Electronics GmbH. In the first semesters, you will regularly alternate between university and the company, so you can apply your theoretical knowledge directly in exciting projects.

At the university, you will learn the engineering fundamentals in mathematics, physics, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering, supplemented by computer science content such as programming, databases, software development and automation engineering. During the practical phases, you put this knowledge into practice in real company projects, for example in developing mechatronic systems, automating production processes, optimising automation systems or simulating technical workflows.

In the fourth and seventh semester, the focus is entirely on the practical placements. Here you will be working independently on projects, gainiing valuable professional experience and preparing specifically for your bachelor’s thesis. Throughout your studies, experienced supervisors will support you both academically and personally, and prepare you for successfully completing your degree and getting the best possible start to your career at the interface between mechanical engineering and IT.

As a dual student, you benefit from attractive remuneration that increases with each year of study. In addition, you will receive a holiday bonus and an annual bonus (Christmas bonus).

Maurer Electronics GmbH offers you the following salary based on a 40-hour week: 

  • 1st year: €1,421.03 
  • 2nd year: €1,497.09 
  • 3rd year: €1,742.95 
  • After successfully completing the 3rd year:  €1,810.49
