Dual study programme in Industrial Electrical Engineering (B.Eng.)
Start your dual study programme in an environment where technology meets the future. With us, you will learn how electrical systems are planned, developed and applied, from automation engineering and power electronics to control engineering and energy supply. Together with your team, you will create solutions that make processes more efficient, optimise systems and drive innovation.
Overview of your dual study programme in Industrial Electrical Engineering
Locations & company
The programme is offered each year at our Berlin site by Bundesdruckerei GmbH, in close cooperation with HWR Berlin (Berlin School of Economics and Law).
Renumeration
Remuneration in the dual study programme follows clear standards and increases with each year of study, starting at over €1,200 per month.
Start date & duration:
The programme start date is 1 October each year. Theory and practical modules each last around three months and alternate throughout the programme. During the theory modules at HWR Berlin, you will acquire the scientific fundamentals, which you will then put into practice with us at the company.
Required school-leaving qualification:
For the dual study programme you need the general higher education entrance qualification or the entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences. Good grades in mathematics and physics are particularly important, as they form the basis of many parts of the course.
Your responsibilities in the dual study programme in Industrial Electrical Engineering
From automation engineering to power electronics,in your dual study programme, you will delve deep into the diverse areas of electrical engineering. You will develop concepts, put them into practice, and analyse complex technical systems. This includes planning electrical installations, optimising drive systems and implementing sustainable energy solutions.
Your responsibilities in detail:
- You will work on exciting projects centred on automation, power engineering and power electronics, giving you genuine hands-on experience.
- You will take on practical tasks in different electrical engineering areas within the Production and Engineering department, tailored to your strengths.
- You will work on forward-looking topics such as electrical power supply, measurement technology, control engineering, drive systems, maintenance and process automation. Along the way, you will learn to analyse, optimise and program systems yourself.
- You will gain valuable experience in varied practical modules, put cutting-edge technologies to use straight away and work closely with experienced engineers.
What you’ll learn during the dual study programme in Industrial Electrical Engineering
In the dual study programme in Industrial Electrical Engineering, you will acquire solid knowledge in the core areas of electrical engineering, from circuit design and electronics to automation systems, power electronics, power engineering and information technology. The programme is complemented by topics such as control engineering, metrology, drive technology and business fundamentals. You can also deepen your knowledge in an elective module to enhance your qualification.
During the theory modules at HWR Berlin, you will not only learn theoretical principles but also apply them straight away in lab practicals, for example when building control systems, simulating electrical circuits or programming automated applications.
In the practical modules with us, you put what you have learned straight into practice: You will work on real projects, gain experience in interdisciplinary teams and develop your skills in communication, organisation, documentation and maintenance. The aim of the programme is to prepare you systematically for responsible tasks in industrial electrical engineering, with a clear focus on practical relevance, quality and technological innovation.
How the dual study programme in Industrial Electrical Engineering works
The programme starts on 1 October each year and runs for six semesters (three years). It kicks off with a joint onboarding week in Berlin, where you get to know the company, the Electrical Engineering department and the other new talents.
During the theory modules at HWR Berlin, you will gain a solid scientific foundation in control engineering, measurement technology, power engineering, information technology, drive systems and power electronics. You will also be introduced to elective modules that allow you to deepen your knowledge in specific subject areas.
In the practical modules with us, you apply this knowledge directly in projects, develop and program control systems, analyse electrical networks and support the maintenance of complex production facilities. Over time, you will grow into an expert in industrial electrical engineering.
Your remuneration during the dual study programme in Industrial Electrical Engineering
In the dual study programme at Bundesdruckerei GmbH in Berlin, you can expect attractive remuneration based on a 35-hour week, which increases each year. Your income will be supplemented by a holiday bonus and an annual (Christmas) bonus.
- 1st year: €1,241.36
- 2nd year: €1,307.80
