We offer you an attractive apprenticeship remuneration of €1,200 in the first year, which increases with each year of training.

Your responsibilities as a Warehouse Operative (m/f/d) 

As a Warehouse Operative, you ensure that goods are always available on time and in the right place. From goods receipt and storage to dispatch, you will learn all the key processes of warehouse logistics and develop step by step into a logistics professional. 

Your responsibilities in detail:

  • You will receive goods deliveries, check them carefully for completeness and quality, and log all relevant shipping documents. 
  • You will ensure materials are supplied as required and make sure everything is in the right place on time, particularly in dispatch.
  • You will regularly check stock levels and carry out stocktakes, keeping an overview while following all safety requirements.
  • You will assemble goods, take care of packaging and support the dispatch process so that everything arrives on time and intact. You will also learn how to correctly prepare and manage shipping documents.
  • You will learn how to safely operate industrial trucks and forklifts and use them professionally in day-to-day warehouse work – supported by fellow apprentices and experienced warehouse operatives who will guide you throughout your training.

What you will learn in your apprenticeship as a Warehouse Operative (m/f/d)

During your apprenticeship, you will gain knowledge and practical skills in logistics processes as well as important methodological competencies. You will learn how goods flows are planned, organised and professionally implemented – from receipt and proper storage through to order picking and dispatch. 

You gain insights into using modern storage and transport equipment as well as digital inventory management systems, and learn which shipping documents play a role in day-to-day warehouse logistics. Along the way, you will develop a strong understanding of quality assurance, occupational safety, environmental protection and efficient workflows.

Alongside technical skills, the focus is also on teamwork, communication across interfaces and clear documentation of work processes. The aim of your apprenticeship is to prepare you systematically for responsible roles in modern warehouse logistics. Practical learning, forward-looking methods and an awareness of safety and sustainability play a key role. 

At the same time, you learn how your job profile can be applied in other areas too, such as in freight forwarding companies or large logistics centres. This gives you a wide range of development opportunities and long-term career prospects beyond your apprenticeship.

The training programme of our Warehouse Operative apprenticeship (m/f/d)

The Warehouse Operative apprenticeship starts on 1 September in odd-numbered years and usually lasts two years. During this time, you will alternate regularly between practical training at the company and classes at vocational school. 

Your journey starts with a joint onboarding week in Berlin, where you will get to know the company and meet other new apprentices. In the workplace, you will gain hands-on experience in receiving, storing, picking and dispatching goods. At vocational school, you will learn the theoretical basics, such as types of storage, key figures, transport routes and legal requirements in goods transport. 

A particular focus is on dispatch and the correct handling of shipping documents ensuring that every delivery is documented properly. Towards the end of your apprenticeship, you will prepare intensively for your final assessment, supported by experienced trainers and warehouse operatives who will guide you both professionally and personally to prepare you for a successful career in warehouse logistsics. With your apprenticeship, you will benefit not only from hands-on experience but also from close support from our dedicated training team. 

Your apprenticeship remuneration during the Warehouse Operative apprenticeship (m/f/d) 

At Bundesdruckerei GmbH, you can expect an apprenticeship remuneration based on a 35-hour working week. Your pay increases with each year of training and is supplemented by holiday pay and an annual bonus (Christmas bonus).

  • 1st year: €1,205.20  
  • 2nd year: €1,262.48
