As a Mechatronics Technician, you will ensure the smooth operation of our complex electrotechnical systems. You will install control software, maintain existing systems, troubleshoot faults and check that machines are functioning correctly. In the process, you’ll learn how to assemble and test individual components with precision.

Our Mechatronics Technicians programme is offered at the Berlin site of Bundesdruckerei GmbH. Here you can expect modern training workshops, experienced trainers as well as committed apprentices of various years of training.
Remuneration
Apprentice remuneration starts at €1,200 in the first year of training, providing an attractive financial foundation for the start of your career.
Start & duration
Our three-and-a-half-year apprenticeship begins annually on 1 September. With strong performance, it can be shortened, allowing you to achieve your qualification before the end of the final training year.
Required school qualification
You must have at least a secondary school-leaving certificate with good grades in maths, physics and preferably in computer science too.
Your responsibilities as a Mechatronics Technician (m/f/d)
As a Mechatronics Technician, you will make sure that the Bundesdruckerei Group’s highly specialised machines and systems run smoothly at all times. You will install, maintain and repair our complex mechatronic systems, troubleshoot technical faults and contribute directly to the secure production of official documents.
- You will measure and test mechanical and electrical parameters using installation plans, ensuring that all specifications are precisely followed.
- You will learn to operate complex machines professionally and gradually acquire the know-how you need to work with modern technology.
- You will commission machines and systems, carry out regular maintenance, check their functionality and independently resolve any faults.
- You will assemble and disassemble machine parts, correctly build individual components together, and work with different materials, both manually and with modern machinery.
- You will program operating software and work on robot-controlled and automated systems to control production processes efficiently.
What you’ll learn during the apprenticeship as a Mechatronics Technician (m/f/d)
During your apprenticeship, you will acquire comprehensive knowledge of mechanics, electronics and control engineering. This forms the foundation of your profession. You will learn to assemble machines, commission them, adjust them precisely and maintain them reliably. You’ll also learn how to apply modern measuring and testing methods and how to correctly assemble technical components.
Throughout the different years of training, you will deepen your knowledge through hands-on, practical projects. In doing so, you’ll learn to analyse faults systematically and implement lasting solutions. This is a skill our apprentices particularly value and that is central to the job profile of a mechatronics technician.
The training programme for your apprenticeship as a Mechatronics Technician (m/f/d)
The apprenticeship begins annually on 1 September and normally lasts three and a half years. You will regularly alternate between practical placements in the company and classes at the vocational school. Each year of training will bring new learning content and exciting challenges, from assembling your first mechanical components to programming complex systems.
From day one, you will work with real technical systems. In the final year of training, you’ll prepare specifically for your examination project. Our trainers will provide individual support, professionally, methodically and personally. This ensures you are optimally prepared for your future profession as a Mechatronics Technician.
Your apprenticeship remuneration as a Mechatronics Technician (m/f/d)
At Bundesdruckerei GmbH, you will benefit from attractive apprenticeship remuneration based on a 35-hour week, which increases with each year of training. In addition, you’ll receive holiday and Christmas bonuses.
- 1st year of training: €1,241.36
- 2nd year of training: €1,300.36
- 3rd year of training: €1,359.36

- At least an intermediate secondary school-leaving certificate with good grades in maths, physics/technology and ideally computer science
- An interest in the interplay between mechanics, electronics and information technology
- Structured, analytical thinking and the ability to pick things up quickly
- Manual dexterity, team spirit and the willingness to assemble components precisely
- Normal colour vision and a good technical and mechanical understanding
