Digital identities
Building trust through secure identity technologies
A person’s identity is unique and unmistakable. In the physical world, it is verified by personal attributes and documents such as the national ID card. In the digital realm, it is verified by a username and password, tokens, certificates or biometric data. The European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet) will soon enable citizens across Europe to identify themselves digitally, present credentials and sign documents with legal validity – securely, conveniently and Europe-wide. Secure identities are the foundation for trust, communication and the protection of sensitive data. In this section, we present solutions that enable digital identities to be managed in a trustworthy, tamper-proof way.
