Fiscalization for cash register systems
Since 1 January 2020, POS systems have to fulfil additional legal requirements, so that all cash registers in Germany now have to be equipped with a so-called technical security device (TSE).

Fiscalization - Product details
Bundesdruckerei has implemented the technical security device (TSE) in two solution variants: a TSE in the form of a microSD card (TSE module), which can also be used with an adapter for USB and SD card connections, as well as a web service operated jointly with the Deutsche Fiskal company.
The TSE prevents sales suppression and tax avoidance.
In technical terms, this is possible by attaching an electronic signature to the individual receipts. Cash registers that were bought after 25 November 2010 and which cannot be retrofitted can still be used until 31 December 2022.
In Germany, the technical security device (TSE) must be accredited by the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI).

TSE-Modul
Bundesdruckerei has developed two solutions to implement the legal requirements and to counteract manipulation of POS systems: a TSE module that combines all TSE functions in a compact micro SD card and a web service with central hosting at Bundesdruckerei's trusted service provider, D‑TRUST GmbH, which fulfils the function of a TSE.
