If you lose your signature card, you should have it immediately revoked. You can do this in several ways.
Revocation of lost signature cards
If you lose your signature card, you should have it immediately revoked. After all, anybody who uses your signature card - i.e. has possession of the card and knows the pertinent PIN – can sign in your name in a legally binding manner! Retroactive revocation of the certificate is not possible.
You can call our hotline or send us your written revocation request.
We are available 24 hours a day.
You have two options when it comes to having your certificate revoked:
By phone: You can reach our revocation hotline at +49 (0) 30 25 93 - 91 600 – 24 hours a day. Please identify yourself by stating the revocation password which you selected at the time of application.
In writing: Please forward your written revocation request to:
c/o D-TRUST GmbH
Pursuant to the German Act on Digital Signature, a certification service provider must immediately revoke a qualified certificate if
this is demanded either by a signature key holder or their representative (third party authorised to revoke)
the certificate was issued on the basis of incorrect data
the certification service provider discontinues his activities and if such activities are not continued by another certification service Provider
the certificate holder fails to fulfil their contractual obligations
other reasons for revocation were considered in appropriate Agreements.
As soon as you no longer need your signature card, you can have it revoked or you can destroy it yourself using a punch to destroy the chip, for example. Please remember that you will need precisely this card and the pertinent keys and PINS to decrypt any data which was encrypted using this card. Therefore, if you still need the card to decrypt data, you should keep it in a safe and secure place.
