Change in Bundesdruckerei's executive management

Dr. Stefan Hofschen to succeed Ulrich Hamann as CEO in February 2018.

Berlin – Next year will see a change in executive management at Berlin-based Bundesdruckerei GmbH. Last Wednesday, the Supervisory Board of the IT security company appointed Dr. Stefan Hofschen (49) as the future CEO. On 1 January 2018, Dr. Hofschen will become a member of executive management and one month later will take office as CEO of Bundesdruckerei GmbH. He is to succeed Ulrich Hamann who will retire at the age of 63 after 14 years in office as CEO.

Dr. Stefan Hofschen studied electrical engineering at RWTH Aachen. His current position is that of Division President Chip Card & Security at Infineon Technologies AG where he previously held several management positions.

"We look forward to working together with Dr. Hofschen who has an excellent reputation in the industry and a persuasive personality. He will continue the company's very successful course and, during an era of ever-greater requirements for the security of organisations and government agencies, he will continue to pursue the development of new solutions, especially in the digital area. This move will allow us to execute a change in both generation and management at an early stage and with sufficient lead time," notes Prof. Willi Berchtold, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bundesdruckerei GmbH.

Dr. Stefan Hofschen says: "I am very much looking forward to my new tasks at Bundesdruckerei which is one of the companies best positioned in the field of security solutions. Increasing digitalisation of the commercial and public sector means enormous challenges for greater security. Bundesdruckerei is the partner of choice when it comes to finding the perfect solution."

Dr. Stefan Hofschen succeeds Ulrich Hamann who is retiring from his position as CEO after reaching retirement age and on expiration of his contract. Prof. Berchtold says: "I look forward to continuing cooperation with Mr Hamann in the coming months. Even though it is still some time away until his retirement, I already would like to express on behalf of Bundesdruckerei GmbH our enormous gratitude to Mr Hamann. He took the company from an economically difficult position, steering it towards a stable, successful and profitable course of growth. It is also thanks to Mr Hamann that Bundesdruckerei has developed a technologically leading role on its global markets."

On 1 February 2018, Bundesdruckerei's executive management will be represented by Dr. Stefan Hofschen as Chief Executive Officer and Mr Christian Helfrich as Chief Financial Officer. The shareholder of Bundesdruckerei is the Federal Republic of Germany, represented by the Federal Ministry of Finance.
