Responsibilities

The Marketing department is the hub of the company. This is where ideas for new products and solutions are generated on the basis of our customers' needs and demand and then developed to market maturity. This calls for precise knowledge of market developments, customer demands, technological and social trends, along with expertise and know-how in technology and product management.

This means opening up new markets and winning new customers and, together with the other departments, working on innovative solutions.

Typical professions

Our marketing staff conduct market research, assess market developments and trends, develop marketing strategies and design solutions and products. They steer all activities throughout the entire lifecycle of our products. In addition to drawing up business plans, reports and decision papers for management, marketing staff also speak at various events and manage exhibition booths. These tasks are carried out in the department mostly by industrial, mechanical and printing engineers and by experts in business, economics, IT and computer science, as well as marketing management.

Responsibilities

The Technology department is the engine of the company. This is where the ideas from the Innovation department or product specifications defined by Marketing are converted to marketable solutions. The department collects the requirements for our technologies, prepares architectural designs and develops software and hardware solutions.

The portfolio of products to be developed for Bundesdruckerei is both extensive and diverse. We are committed to implementing the requirements of our customers, to making processes as efficient as possible and to achieving a continuously high level of quality. In our four facilities in Berlin, Hamburg, Hanover and Munich, we apply the latest methods in our development work.

In the Technology department, staff from more than 20 professions work in an interdisciplinary manner. These professions include software and hardware architects, chemists, physicists, mathematicians, materials technicians, mechanical and electrical engineers, information scientists and business economists.

The IT department provides technologies, infrastructures and services that form the basis for Bundesdruckerei's business processes. The department must also ensure an interruption-free, secure production and development environment. One important aspect of this is maintaining the required high level of IT security. State-of-the-art systems and services are made available as needed at the different workplaces.

Staff here design, implement and operate or manage Bundesdruckerei's networks, systems, security gateways as well as IT methods. The department employs system, network and security engineers, systems managers and supporters, not to mention consultants who advise users about the applications in use and who take care of the development and implementation of IT security concepts.

Responsibilities

At Bundesdruckerei, Production covers the entire supply chain in order to produce security products and solution components. This department is responsible for all activities related to order preparation and handling, material procurement, the production of the products themselves as well all logistic tasks.

Features

Production is the nerve centre of the company. This is where personalised ID documents are produced, such as ID cards, passports, driving licences, to name but a few, as well as banknotes, postage and revenue stamps. The focus here is primarily on quality, efficiency, KPIs, as well as competition and process security.

Typical professions

This department employs skilled workers, for instance, for printing, foil processing or (electronic) laser personalisation. Engineers and logistic staff, who optimise machine, ink and material processes, also work here side by side with IT experts who ensure that production runs smoothly from the time an order is received right through to delivery.

Responsiblities

This department is responsible for quality management which includes product-related risk management and performance development. The department is also in charge of the management system that covers the company's organisational structures and processes, as well as the Company Manual with its rules, regulations and principles.

The Quality & Processes department defines the company's rules which are essential for Bundesdruckerei's performance. The department also ensures that all solution and product claims, whether by Bundesdruckerei or by third parties, can be guaranteed on a long-term basis.

Typical professions

Engineers from various fields of natural and social science account for the lion's share of staff at this department. Bundesdruckerei's quality management also includes a laboratory where physics and chemistry lab staff work. Our staff have detailed knowledge of the company's operative business, they search for and find weaknesses within the company, with suppliers and partners, and work in cross-functional teams to eliminate the sources of defects and errors.

Responsibilities

The Consult & Service department has several tasks. Staff there support our sales staff when it comes to winning projects and developing new consultancy projects. They also advise customers on how to improve their IT security. This begins with a first security check and includes demand analyses with advice on strategic solutions, culminating in a holistic security architecture. Support is also provided to customers when it comes to introducing and implementing products. This department is also in charge of system maintenance and after-sales. Staff here communicate with customers through our hotline or by visiting customers.

Business development is a central task. New business opportunities and potential sales are explored and generated. Staff are always committed to providing customers with a one-stop solution made up of products, technologies and Services.

Complex tasks like these call for staff with various backgrounds in education and training. An interest in IT security and ID systems is useful here as is experience in project management. This department primarily employs commercial computer scientists and engineers, economists and scientists along with trained technicians and computer scientists at various levels.

Responsibilities

Bundesdruckerei's Sales department is broken down according to segments. The department serves as the point of contact for government customers, public administrations and private companies, as well as central banks and their suppliers. Our aim is to establish and foster long-term relationships based on trust. We are also working to position Bundesdruckerei as a leading international and innovative supplier.

Features

The Sales department is responsible for order intake, turnover and margin, as well as customer management, all of which are important for the company's survival and growth. Specific insight into current and future customer demands is the basis for developing and enhancing the company's solutions and products.

Our Sales staff need sound technical knowledge so that they can explain production methods and workflows to their customers. Moreover, they must also be adept in economic and contractual aspects. This is why staff at the Sales department have very different qualifications, especially in technical, commercial and legal fields of study. The work carried out by this department typically involves customer contact and lead generation, along with bid preparation and presentation, order and contract negotiations, budget planning, customer events and trade show visits.
