Banknotes

We produce the euro.
In one of the world's most advanced banknote production facilities

In 2002, the national central banks brought the new euro banknotes into circulation, replacing the banknotes of national currencies in the participating nations.

In order to become a euro producer, Bundesdruckerei invested over 55 million euro in a new banknote production line which is today regarded as one of the most modern in the world. More than two billion banknotes were printed in Berlin for Germany's initial stock of euro banknotes.

The experience gleaned from upgrading the security features of the German series of banknotes, as well as the new products and systems which it developed together with highly specialised partners, has given Bundesdruckerei an important technological lead which is also a convincing argument in international competition. Eesti Pank was one of the first foreign national banks to consistently rely on Bundesdruckerei's security and protection technologies for the production of its banknotes.

As an active member of the Euro Private Banknote Printers Association (EUPBA) and through its participation in many other international research and development projects, Bundesdruckerei is continuously working on the implementation of new quality and security standards for banknote printing. As one of the world's leading value printing innovators, we are perfectly prepared for the future and are already manufacturing products which will also accompany you every day.
