The orange-coloured EUR 50 banknote (14 x 7.7 cm) depicts elements from the Renaissance, the period of change from Medieval to Modern Times.
It was the time of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Albrecht Dürer. Having begun in Italy, the Renaissance spread over to all European countries after 1500.
