Estonian banknotes
In a competitive international tender, Bundesdruckerei has been awarded the contract to print Estonia's 500 krooni banknote. The Estonian banknote is a top-quality product, developed by Bundesdruckerei in collaboration with experts from the Estonian National Bank. Reinhold Gerstetter, Bundesdruckerei's designer of the German series of banknotes, and Professor Vladimir Taiger, an Estonian designer, contributed a significant input to this innovative design.
Back in 1998, Bundesdruckerei was awarded to print the 100 krooni banknote.
The 100 krooni banknote boasts excellent protection from counterfeiters. As well as a holographic strip and optically variable inks, it also uses the very latest technology from Bundesdruckerei's research and development department. A concealed image is visible with a special lens. The newly developed 500 krooni banknote contains a foil patch with optical structures featuring Australian-developed Exelgram® technology. The patch is applied in accurate register and additionally overprinted to afford even greater protection from counterfeiting.
The combination of innovative security features and improved conventional technology, such as raised-relief intaglio printing, reflects Bundesdruckerei's professional capabilities, with one of the most up-to-date banknote production lines in the world.
