The detailed concept and the preparation of production for the electronic office ID card are to be concluded in the first half of 2007. As of summer 2007 and depending on the contactless chips used, the cards will then be ready for call-off by Germany's administrations.

The following variants of the electronic office ID card will be offered:

The electronic office ID card for the German administrations (for example, for the Federal Ministry of the Interior) will be equipped with a contactless Mifare® chip or Legic® chip as requested by the customer.

The electronic office ID card for the German federal police forces (for example, for the Federal Criminal Police Office) will be equipped with a contactless Mifare® chip or Legic® chip as requested by the customer.
