Electronic office ID card

Components
Special features and card body
The electronic office ID card made from polycarbonate material is centrally produced and optically personalised at Bundesdruckerei. The card is produced in credit-card format (ID-1 format) according to ISO 7810 and its design guarantees a high level of recognition.
Security features
In order to ensure maximum protection against forgery and manipulation, various different security features are already integrated into the card body during the production process. Tried-and-tested security printing methods with line patterns, rainbow gradation, microlettering and copy-resistant printing inks on the front and back of the card body ensure reliable protection against copying. Special optical effects of the so-called Kinegram, together with the changeable laser image, concealing the abbreviation of the respective authority, and the personal signature of the card holder provide additional protection against forgery.
Contactless chip
As a precondition for establishing secure communications between the office ID card and a corresponding reader, the security cards are additionally fitted with contactless Mifare® or Legic® chips.

Contact chip
The contact chip is the heart of the electronic office ID card. The processor chip (Infineon SLE66CX642P with the Siemens CardOS 4.3b operating system) which is safely integrated into the card body is technically prepared for the use of cryptographic functions and the storage of data objects. To this end, Bundesdruckerei, together with the German Federal Office for Information Security, has developed a security concept for data objects.
