Germany's federal authorities can use the office ID card for electronic recording of work time and attendance or for the electronic signature, whatever they require.

Time & attendance and access control

These systems are usually based on contactless (RFID) technology. To this end, a contactless chip with a corresponding antenna is integrated into the electronic office ID card. 

The electronic office ID card is offered with different variants of the contactless chip to ensure that the card supports the different systems for time & attendance and access control which are used at Germany's administrations.

Cryptographic functions

The contact chip is technically prepared for the use of cryptographic functions such as

• authentication

• electronic signature

• encryption and decryption.

It is also prepared for the storage of different data objects.
