Cooperation with Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft
The protection of secure identities and reliable processes for identifying and authenticating individuals, goods and intellectual property are key requirements for the transaction capability of globally networked information societies. Private users, private enterprises and public institutions depend on efficient electronic communication processes and maximum security on the Net in order to operate.
In order to cope with the urgent tasks in the field of security technology and as a precondition for the optimum use of the opportunities of one of the world's most important growth markets, new and highly specialised solution approaches must be developed and implemented in interoperable systems.
In light of this, Bundesdruckerei is co-operating with various institutes of Fraunhofer Gesellschaft in Berlin and Brandenburg.
The mission of the "SecurityLabs" is to develop and perfect to market maturity tools and technologies designed to protect identity in the following transaction and communication processes:
- secure identities for individuals and their digital "representatives"
- secure identities for products
- secure identities for methods, processes and technologies
- secure identities for processes
- secure identities for intellectual property.
Tasks include both ongoing improvement of general security standards as well as significant efficiency boosts when it comes to checking and verifying the identity of individuals and goods.
